An Irish Wish - 'The Kingdom' of County Kerry Walking Tour
August 10 - 17, 2009

Denise Johnson of Travel Broker Tours invites you to join her on a remarkable
8 day walking tour through County Kerry, traditionally known as "The Kingdom".

Renowned the world over for its beautiful scenery as well as Killarney National Park and lakes, sandy beaches, cliffs and rocky headlands, fishing, canoeing, horseback riding as well as some of the most magnificent walking terrain in Ireland.

Glenbeigh (in Gaelic: Gleann Beithe - Valley of the Birch Trees) is a beautiful vibrant village situated by the Atlantic Ocean, at the foot of the mountains of the Iveragh Peninsula, on the Ring of Kerry. The village of Glenbeigh has great pubs and restaurants where you will have the opportunity to hear traditional Irish music or even partake in some dancing!

Our program:

  • 7 nights Glenbeigh, Ireland

Our Itinerary:

Aug 10 - We'll gather together this evening for dinner with your group escort, Denise Johnson and other members of your group. Your welcome dinner is followed by a briefing with our walking guide.

Aug11 - A gentle walk on road, bog road & beach which will allow us to experience a variety of habitats, as well as to view peat cuttings. We’ll end the day with a visit to Ireland’s only Bog Village museum, where we will learn how people lived in days gone past. (Distance: 7.5 miles)

Aug 12 - Today we will walk from the town of Glenbeigh and ascend gradually to circle Seefin Mountain and stroll downwards into the lush valley of the
Caragh River in Glencar. (Distance: 8 miles - Ascent: 1,150 ft.)

Aug 14 - It’s a day of rest for our small group.  Enjoy a day tour to Dingle Peninsula or visit Skelligs Rocks or maybe do some Irish fishing, golfing, horse back riding or simply relax and soak up the scenery.

Route 1 - Bridia Valley to Gap of Dunloe (Distance: 10 miles - Ascent: 1,300 ft.) Route 2 - Derrycunnihy to Gap of Dunloe (Distance: 6.6 miles Ascent: 660 ft.)

We will also have the option to journey onward to Muckross Friary, built in the 15th century. (Distance: 6.5 miles - Ascent: 1,100 ft.) or optional trek (Distance: 7.5 miles).
